چکیده
Introduction/Aim: Fagerstrom test for Nicotine Dependency (FNDT) is one of the most frequent tools used to assess nicotine dependency in primary care. Today, apart from classical cigarette smoking many addicts may prefer other methods (e-cigarette, hookah, pipe, cigars, light users or directly tobacco users) gather nicotine. The main aim this study evaluate effectiveness FNDT non-classical addicts. Material and Methods: Among 550 volunteered patients who have administered OMU Family Medicine Departments cessation clinic 2019 been divided into two groups (Study control). group consisted 62 (11.2%) don’t smoke (Non-classical) 488 (88.8%) smoker (classical) addict. Both groups’ scores, their package year scores are calculated exhaled CO (E-CO) measured. Then these results analyzed. Results: all subjects 388 were men (70.5%). mean age participants was 39,31±12,84 years. Although there no difference between E-CO measurements (p>0,05), statistically package/year (t=1.258, t=2.014, p<0.001 respectively). There a strong correlation (r=0,468) (r=0,362) with control (p<0,001) while statistical significance (r=0.114) package/ (r=0.098) (p=0.06). significant relation observed smokers (Control Group) (F=35.305, p<0.001). Conclusion: very effective tool assessing smokers, it be not suited It useful design search new assessment dependence non-conventional

Exhaled carbon monoxide is a marker of heavy nicotine dependence.
BACKGROUND/AIM Exhaled CO level provides an objective measure of a patient's smoking status. The relationship between CO levels and nicotine dependence is controversial. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between exhaled CO levels and nicotine dependence as well as to demonstrate that exhaled CO levels may be used as a marker of nicotine dependence. MATERIALS AND METHODS Tw...

The effect of smoking five non-nicotine cigarettes and of breathing carbon monoxide on exercise-induced angina was evaluated in 12 patients with angina. Smoking increased venous carboxyhemoglobin from 1.71 to 5.35%, decreased exercise duration until angina 45%, increased ischemic ST-segment depression at angina from 1.33 to 1.52 mm, and decreased systolic blood pressure times heart rate at angi...
